GUEST COLUMN - Happiness Habits from Wellness by Gigi

The three fundamental aspects of happiness: doing, being and thinking.

First and foremost is important to remind ourselves that all the habits listed below will only work if our goals are set from a place of love rather than fear, avoidance and hate.

Second, what are "habits"?

Habits are the small actions and behaviours that we repeatedly engage in without much conscious thought. They are automatic routines that we develop over time through repetition and practice. Habits can be both positive and negative (YOU CHOOSE :), influencing our daily lives and shaping who we are as individuals.

Here some happiness habits examples.

1 - The Joy of Doing

Incorporating self-care practices like exercise, nutritious eating, quality sleep and stress management can significantly boost your happiness levels.

Dance Like No One's Watching: Put on your favourite tunes and dance like nobody's watching! Dancing not only releases endorphins but also allows you to express yourself freely and let go of worries or stress.

Explore Your Creative Side: Channel your inner Picasso or Mozart and indulge in creative activities that ignite your passion. Whether it's painting, writing, or playing a musical instrument, tapping into your creativity can bring immense joy and a sense of accomplishment.

Volunteer Your Time: Giving back to the community not only benefits others but also fills your heart with happiness. Find a cause close to your heart and dedicate your time and skills to making a positive impact. The act of selfless service will leave you with a profound sense of fulfilment and purpose.

2 - The Art of Being

Being present in the moment and cultivating mindfulness are essential for finding happiness in our daily lives.

Mindful Moments: Take a few moments each day to pause, breathe, and fully immerse yourself in the present moment. Notice the sensations, sounds, and sights around you. Embrace the beauty of the present and let it fill you with a deep sense of peace and gratitude.

Connect with Nature: Nature has a magical way of rejuvenating our spirits and connecting us to a greater sense of purpose. Take a stroll in the park, hike in the mountains, or simply sit under a tree and soak in the serenity. Allow nature's wonders to awaken your inner bliss.

Take time off technology: Allocate specific hours of the day to switch off your laptop, phone and telly. I have started not to look at my phone first thing in the morning and it has been a game changer for me!

3 - The Power of Positive Thinking

Happiness is a state of mind.

Gratitude Attitude: Cultivate an attitude of gratitude by regularly expressing appreciation for the blessings in your life. Start a gratitude journal and write down three things you are grateful for each day. This simple practice shifts your focus towards positivity and opens your heart to love and abundance.

Let go of what no longer serves you: Let go of thoughts that don't support you. Our happiness is defined by our ability of let go of things that no longer serve us. How? Reach out to a trusted friend/family member or speak with a qualified therapist.

Be authentic and speak your truth: There are no doubts and fear when speaking your truth. The right people will be with you all the way.

If you're reading this thinking "I know all of this", I get it. It's nothing new.

I am telling you this so that you know I can support you.

As your health coach, my job is to help you implement all these changes in your life, in your own terms.
