GUEST COLUMN - Joy vs Pleasure from Wellness by Gigi

Exploring the Depths

In the pursuit of a fulfilling life, it's important to discern between pleasure and joy.

Pleasure often arises from external sources, like indulging in delicious food or enjoying a relaxing getaway. It's the fleeting and immediate sensation that gratifies our senses. While pleasurable experiences can bring us temporary happiness, they may not always leave a lasting impact on our overall well-being.

On the other hand, joy runs deeper within our souls. It emerges from within, nurtured by a sense of contentment and gratitude for the simple blessings in life. Joy is the subtle whisper of the heart, the profound connection to moments of genuine happiness, and the ever-present source of inner peace. It can be found in the smallest of things: a warm hug, a heartfelt conversation, or witnessing a breathtaking sunset.

While pleasure is a delightful addition to our lives, joy is the foundation that sustains us through both highs and lows. It reminds us to appreciate the journey, embrace the present moment, find beauty in the ordinary and make conscious decisions that align with OUR own values.

All the answers are already within you.

What brings me joy?

The sun on my skin, a dip into the ocean, a colourful sunset, a smile, a real connection, my family, my friends, my students.
